25 years of history and a 2025 of strong regional impact: another high-intensity year for Film Commission Torino Piemonte

The Foundation presents its 2025 figures, with a record economic impact of over 60 million euros, and its plans for 2026: a system that is growing and consolidating its productive strength.

- 62 million euros in total regional impact generated — estimated solely in relation to films and TV series — 213 productions supported, over 1,100 shooting days and steady growth in Piemonte's international positioning

- 23 feature films completed, 12 with the support of the regional fund

- Growing number of sets spread across the Piemonte region: 27 productions in municipalities involved in the Regional Network

- The 25th anniversary celebrations: from the event at the Mole Antonelliana to the Open Days in May and June at the FCTP headquarters for the general public, citizens and students

2025 confirms itself as yet another year of extraordinary productive intensity for Film Commission Torino Piemonte, consolidating a steady growth trend both in quantitative and qualitative terms. This is the picture that emerges from today's presentation at the Via Cagliari headquarters of data relating to last year's productions, alongside projects in preparation for 2026.

213 productions were supported, for a total of 1,122 shooting days across the region — a key indicator of the productive weight of projects realised in Piemonte — showing a growth trend of approximately 8% compared to 2024.

A record economic impact on the region, estimated at 62 million euros, corresponding to 12.4 times the initial investment (5 million euros in grants awarded): a result generated solely by the feature film and TV series productions supported, confirming the regional system's extraordinary capacity to activate resources and generate value in the area.

At the heart of this "leverage effect" is qualified direct spending of 31 million euros in Piemonte, equivalent to 6.2 times the 5 million euros in contributions disbursed through the Piemonte Film Tv Fund of the Regione Piemonte and the services made available by Film Commission Torino Piemonte. The overall impact is further doubled thanks to the supply chain multiplier effect (coefficient 1:2).*

A result that reinforces Piemonte's role as a central hub for national and international audiovisual production, capable of attracting diverse projects across formats, genres and origins.

Also on the rise is the number of location scouting activities — 47 across the region — as well as casting activity, with over 200 days hosted at the FCTP headquarters, alongside 62 days of use of the Sala Paolo Tenna, confirming an increasingly structured and well-established sector.

According to Film Commission Torino Piemonte President Beatrice Borgia"2025 stands as a year of extraordinary value, both from a production standpoint and from a historical and identity perspective, linked to the more than positive balance sheet of 25 years of the Foundation's activity. The figures bear witness to a continuity of the highest level and steady quality growth, with clear results both in the number of shooting days — exceeding 1,100 — and in the economic impact on the region, estimated at over 60 million euros. While the increased financial commitment of the Regione Piemonte is an essential factor in this growth, the region's attractiveness is increasingly recognised at an international level for the professionalism of those working in the field and for the quality of the services that Piemonte can offer to the global film industry."

CALLS, FUNDS AND REGIONAL NETWORK: A GROWING ECOSYSTEM

The number of feature films is significant: 23 films completed in 2025, of which 12 supported by the regional Piemonte Film Tv Fund, plus 6 TV series and 3 animation projects.

In 2025, Film Commission Torino Piemonte also allocated 850,000 euros in support of short films, documentaries, and films and series in development. 22 short film and documentary projects were supported in the first call of June 2025, while the results of the single call of the Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund — supported by the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo — will be announced very shortly.

The Regional Network is also growing steadily, reaching 163 member municipalities, with an increasing number of sets spread across the Piemonte region: **27 productions** filmed in network member municipalities, confirming an ever more widespread distribution of productive impact across the various provinces.

"Torino and Piemonte are today a true capital of cinema. The figures from Film Commission Torino Piemonte tell the story of a mature, competitive system capable of attracting national and international investment. Investing in cinema," declare regional councillors for Culture Marina Chiarelli and for the Budget Andrea Tronzano"means investing in regional development. In the three-year period 2023–2025, the Regione Piemonte allocated over 21 million euros to support production, venues and promotion, with a further 12 million already planned for 2026–2027. This is a clear, structured multi-year strategy that strengthens Piemonte's attractiveness in the European audiovisual landscape. Cinema is culture, identity, regional promotion, skilled employment and economic growth. We will continue to support this strategic supply chain with concrete, stable tools, consolidating Piemonte as a national and international audiovisual hub."

INTERNATIONAL VISIBILITY AND PRESENCE AT MAJOR FESTIVALS

2025 marks a level of international visibility never achieved before, thanks to the presence of FCTP-supported titles at the world's leading and most prestigious film events.

At the Berlinale, brothers Gianluca De Serio and Massimiliano De Serio were in the spotlight with Canone EffimeroTesta o Croce? was presented at the Cannes Film Festival; and Paolo Sorrentino's La Grazia opened the 82nd Venice International Film Festival.

Very different titles from one another, they bear witness to attention to both independent and auteur cinema, and have contributed to unprecedented international promotion for the region.

Communication activity was also consistent, with 15 set visits organised with the press and 11 previews held throughout the year, alongside a structured presence at the main industry markets and festivals.

The 2025 edition of TFI Torino Film Industry also delivered an extremely positive outcome — over its 6 days of programming, marked by continuity but also new challenges with the Immersive section and the Clinic — recording 1,300 accredited participants, confirming high levels of engagement and interest from industry professionals.

"The figures presented by the Film Commission demonstrate the importance of a rapidly growing sector in our region, one that is carving out a central role and attracting increasingly significant productions," states Rosanna Purchia, Councillor for Culture of the Città di Torino, adding that "Torino has become a much-loved location for many reasons, one of which is precisely the presence of a body like the Film Commission — an organisation capable of strengthening, through its services, the attractive power of a city that sees cinema as an indispensable vocation."

25 YEARS OF THE FOUNDATION: A SHARED STORY

Twenty-five years of productions, sets, professional expertise and stories that have moved through the region: Film Commission Torino Piemonte celebrates a milestone that is at once memory and future perspective.

The first moment of celebration is the event organised this evening at the Museo Nazionale del Cinema, with institutions and with all the people who, from 2000 to the present day, have contributed in various ways to shaping the Foundation's journey: a narrative — hosted by Alessandria-born director Luca Ribuoli — featuring the 4 presidents who have led the Foundation over the years, alongside talent and guests who marked each of their tenures.

The celebrations will continue in 2026 with a cycle of Open Days dedicated to citizens, students and film enthusiasts: 5 days (May 8–9, May 22–23 and June 13, 2026) during which the FCTP headquarters will be open to the public with special events and activities to tell the story of the Foundation and showcase the many professional figures in the sector, from casting to make-up, from set design to production.

2026 OUTLOOK

The first months of 2026 confirm the dynamism of the sector: in the first quarter of the year, 9 feature films and 1 TV series have been completed or are in production, for a total of 48 weeks of shooting.

A start that hints at a further phase of consolidation for Piemonte as a strategic audiovisual hub, in a spirit of productive continuity, qualitative growth and strengthened international positioning.
