While the first IDS section focusing on documentary series is about to start, with a stop in Cagliari from September 26th to October 2nd, the sign-up forms for IDS Academy’s Match Making finally open: a laboratory for the development of projects that Doc/it is organizing from the 25th to the 28th of November in Turin, within the 5th edition of TFI – Torino Film Industry

Authors and filmmakers of documentaries who are looking for a producer can access days of intensive education and training that will culminate with a session of public presentations and a pitch of the projects in front of national and international experts, whom the participants will have the chance to meet through designated events.

Projects of one-off, serial and cross-media documentaries (signature, thematic, art, history…) are admitted to the selections.
Institutional documentaries, reportages, and promotional products are instead excluded from the selections.
A maximum of 10 projects on a national level will be selected.A percentage will be reserved for authors that reside in Piedmont.
One project will be selected among the participants of EsoDoc, the program for the international development of documentaries, and one among the finalists of the Premio Solinas 2022.
A maximum of 10 participants with no project will also be selected, based on their curriculum vitae and motivations, who will take part in the training activities.

During this edition, the tutors and producers that will take part in the Match Making will also award the DocCelerator prize to one of the selected participants with a project. The prize consists of a benefit on enrollment in one of the DocCelerator workshops (DocCeleratorStory).
The selection is handled by the IDS Academy advisory board: Edoardo Fracchia, Massimo Arvat, and Heidi Gronauer.

To access the selection (with or without a project) it is necessary to fill out the form by October 25th, 2022 at the following link: https://italiandocscreenings.net/academy/call-ids-academy-2022/#

IDS - Italian Doc Screenings is conceived and produced by Doc/it – Associazione Documentaristi Italiani, with the support of MiC – Direzione Generale Cinema e Audiovisivo, Film Commission Torino Piemonte and Fondazione Sardegna Film Commission, in collaboration with Torino Film Industry, EsoDoc, Premio Solinas, Sottodiciotto Film Festival, and A.I.A.C.E Torino.

Within this year’s IDS program, the Doc/it Professional Award will also be awarded, coming back for its 8th edition with a brand new guise.
The prize, recognized by the Ministry of Culture for the assignment of automatic contribution, is aimed at documentary productions that focus on themes tied to environmental sustainability, or that have adopted eco-sustainability in their production processes; the prize focuses in particular on the productions that are interested in new technologies applied to the documentary form, both regarding the innovation in production and innovation in language, or that express a high level of experimenting of the cinematographic documentary language.

Therefore, the eighth edition of the Doc/it Professional Award will award the documentaries that are most able to read the great change of this particular historic moment. With this approach, Doc/it means to put the spotlight on the best and most virtuous independent Italian production and the professional dynamics that distinguish it.
