Film Commission Torino Piemonte – together with Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo and Regione Piemonte – launches new promotional opportunities in Venice linked to the Development Fund, announcing a partnership with MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo.
On the occasion of the 81st Film Festival, FCTP also presents its second Bilancio Sociale which, for the year 2023, highlights an economic and social impact estimated at around 54 million euros.
“We are proud to be present at the Film Festival together with the public and private institutions that constantly support and sustain our activities to announce important news and results for the current year”. This is what the President of Film Commission Torino Piemonte Beatrice Borgia comments, adding: “the Development Fund is a project of enormous value for the growth of the supply chain that the partnership with MIA will allow to consolidate even more at an international level. At the same time, we believe that, through the Social Balance Sheet, the role of attraction and development agency that FCTP plays for the Piedmont region clearly emerges, contributing to the growth of the socio-economic fabric in all its components”.
On the occasion of the 81st Venice International Film Festival, Film Commission Torino Piemonte organized – at La Villa powered by Giffoni Hub – a networking event to present and promote the Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund, a development fund dedicated to the growth of talents, new cinema, independent productions that for the two-year period 2023-2024 is entirely supported with €700,000 by the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo as part of an agreement with Regione Piemonte.
A new and prestigious opportunity for discussion and updating for the fund - which took place in the presence of the Secretary General of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation Alberto Anfossi and the Councilor for Culture, Tourism and Sport of the Piedmont Region Marina Chiarelli - which is part of a structured path of promotion and communication of the call in the context of markets, reviews and festivals also made possible by the economic intervention of the Foundation.
"In line with our strategic objectives, the Piedmont Cinema System is a driver of development with a significant economic impact on the territory - says Alberto Anfossi, Secretary General of the Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo. It is a sector that activates resources and financing, generating positive effects. Support for the development of audio-video products allows the transition to the production phase, thus intercepting new investments, determining qualified spending on the territory and contributing to the strengthening of the entire sector chain. For this reason we confirm our commitment alongside the Piedmont Region to fully support the Piedmont Film TV Development Fund. The partnership with MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo will also allow the creation of new growth opportunities for talents and independent productions”.
"In an era in which culture and the creative industry represent not only tools for artistic expression but also fundamental levers for the economic and social growth of the territory, Piedmont confirms itself as a leading player in the Italian and European film scene" underlined the regional councilor for Culture, Marina Chiarelli. "The Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund - she added - is a concrete demonstration of our commitment to supporting local talents and independent productions, contributing to the valorization of the excellence of our territory. We are proud to be able to count on a solid partnership with the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation, which allows us to carry out initiatives of such great impact".
After the presentations of the past months in Turin and Milan, the Piemonte Film Tv Development Fund - a project aimed at growing local production companies by ensuring support for the development phase of the audiovisual product and at the same time attracting non-Piedmontese production companies, encouraging them to settle and invest in the area - will have further important growth opportunities in the months to come.
During the event, Film Commission Torino Piemonte announced an unprecedented partnership with the MIA | Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo that will put the development fund at the center by offering 6 projects supported by the call the opportunity to present themselves to a large audience of decision makers during a dedicated "pitch session".
The 6 feature films – selected by an editorial committee composed of representatives of FCTP and MIA and announced today during the event – will benefit from the consultancy of an international expert in preparation for the “pitch session” and will have access to a structured session of one-to-one meetings with a delegation of national and international accredited persons selected by MIA.

The meeting at La Villa was also an opportunity to illustrate the 2023 Bilancio Sociale of the Foundation, produced for the second consecutive year with the support of the Department of Management of the University of Turin. The document – which can be viewed in its entirety HERE on the FCTP website – represents an analysis and research model capable of certifying the use of resources and quantifying the economic, industrial, social and sustainability impact of the Foundation's work, underlines Paolo Biancone, project manager for the University of Turin.
An investigation that has led to a new data culture - capable of reporting in a usable way the value created in the short, medium and long term by FCTP - which quantifies the overall estimated impact on Piedmont in 2023 at more than 54 million euros, approximately 20 times the initial investment of resources.
