“La Grazia” will have its world premiere on Wednesday 27 August 2025 in the Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema (Lido di Venezia), on the opening night of the 2025 Venice Film Festival.
The film was shot in spring in Torino with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte.
«I am very happy that to open the 82nd. Venice International Film Festival of the Biennale di Venezia is the new, highly anticipated film by Paolo Sorrentino – says Alberto Barbera – I like to remember that one of the most important and appreciated Italian authors at an international level made his debut at the Venice Biennale in 2001 with his first film, L’uomo in più, in my first years as Artistic Director. A bond with the Festival consolidated over the years with the out-of-competition presentation of the first episodes of the series The Young Pope (first and second season) and, above all, with È stato la mano di Dio which, in 2021, earned the Silver Lion-Grand Jury Prize. Paolo Sorrentino’s return to competition takes place with a film destined to leave its mark for its great originality and strong harmony with the present, which the audience of the Festival will have the pleasure of discovering on the opening night».
“La Grazia”, written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino, is a Fremantle film, produced by The Apartment, a Fremantle company, Numero 10, and PiperFilm – with the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte. PiperFilm will distribute in Italy, while MUBI holds the world rights to the film, excluding Italy; The Match Factory handles international sales.
