In Dante's Middle Ages, an opulent and corrupt Church stifles all dissent through the Inquisition. 

Only a few courageous people dare to break its dogmas and taboos, like the young Margherita, who joins Dolcino, an idealistic and radical preacher. Together, they created a community that had never existed before, based on equality, brotherhood and freedom. 

When the Pope's crusaders attacked it, the two lovers and their followers resisted, prepared to defy the stake to defend a utopia that would become legend.
