During the press conference presenting the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival in Paris, General Delegate Thierry Frémaux and President Iris Knobloch revealed much of the official 2026 selection.

Representing Piemonte at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (May 12–23) is the film "ROMA ELASTICA" by Bertrand Mandico, which will receive its world premiere in the Official Selection — Séances de Minuit.

Produced by the Torinese company Redibis Film, owned by Daniele Segre and Daniele De Cicco — with whom Film Commission Torino Piemonte has collaborated on several occasions, supporting a number of other projects — "ROMA ELASTICA" is a co-production between Atelier de Production, Redibis Film and Dugong Films. Set in Rome, it was filmed in 2025 partly at Cinecittà, with the support of the Italy-France co-development fund and the Ministry of Culture's minority co-production fund, with backing from Eurimages and in collaboration with Rai Cinema.

The film is a tribute to the history of Italian cinema and to the city of Rome, centred on an actress about to shoot her final film in Rome in the 1980s. The lead roles are played by Marion Cotillard and Noémie Merlant, alongside a large ensemble of Italian actors: Isabella Ferrari, Martina Scrinzi, Agnese Claisse, Maurizio Lombardi, Milutin Dapcevic, Josephine Thiesen, Michele Bravi, Alessio Gallo, Ondina Quadri, Tea Falco, Zlatko Burić, with the extraordinary participation of Ornella Muti and the friendly participation of Franco Nero.
