As part of the European project AVENUE CoVE – ERASMUS+, the Politecnico di Torino is organising XR Fundamentals for Media Professionals, a training course dedicated to the fundamentals of extended reality for media and audiovisual production professionals, coordinated by Andrea Bottino.
XR Fundamentals for Media Professionals is a 5-day course introducing the basics of extended reality (XR), designed for media and audiovisual production professionals who wish to approach immersive technologies with no prior XR experience. The course will take place from 8 to 12 June 2026, with afternoon sessions from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the core concepts of VR and AR, hardware ecosystems, and the fundamentals of immersive application development, through a combination of lectures and hands-on experimentation with existing XR applications — allowing participants to explore the technology without starting from scratch. No prior XR experience is required.
Andrea Bottino is Associate Professor at the Politecnico di Torino (DAUIN), where he coordinates the Computer Graphics & Vision Group. His research interests include Computer Vision, Computational Geometry, Machine Learning and eXtended Reality (XR), with numerous publications in leading international journals and conferences (e.g. IEEE TPAMI, CVIU, Pattern Recognition, CVPR), and he serves on the programme committees of major international scientific venues. His most recent research activities explore the integration of Artificial Intelligence, XR and interactive virtual humans for applications in education, training and cultural heritage.
Participation is by application and open to a maximum of 12–15 people.
Activities will be held at Aula 6C of the Politecnico di Torino.
Application deadline: 3 June 2026, 2:00 PM. Applicants will be notified at the email address provided by 5 June 2026.
